Seniors
The Corduff contingent rolled into Pairc Sheain Mhic Dhiarmada on Friday night last for the latest round of the Intermediate League. A tall order, by any stretch, for our injury riddled team to topple the table toppers. However, it didn’t deter the enthusiasm as we juggled a few positions for the throw in. The visitors settled quickly and tagged on a couple of scores but we, in turn, made our own chances and converted a few points to keep it close. Once again, the immaculate black card would play its part and its loose interpretation reduced our numbers midway through the half. Corduff capitalised on the numerical imbalance and pushed into a lead that we would not recover from. An eight point advantage would see the visitors close out the half with and the game would be all up hill from here on. As if by magic, the irreverent black card appeared again in the second half, and we were once again stretched to the limit. While we tried hard, even saving a penalty, any luck or opportunities evaded us, and Corduff ushered out their victory. In short, we are making progress but this is hampered by a small squad when the injury list starts to climb. Nevertheless, its onward to the next round , away to Toome.
Schools Are Out
Schools are almost finished and we wish all our players happy holidays. The Club would like to acknowledge the sterling work from Danny Clerkin and Cormac Connolly as they have coached and trained at the parish schools of St Michaels and St Marys all year. A totally voluntary service provided by the men, and results have shown that the kids have benefited greatly from their experience and coaching skills. Club and community working together.
