Gerry Lynch RIP

This week we bid a fond farewell to another dedicated Gael who has been one of the cornerstones of this Club. Gerry Lynch, former Chairperson, Treasurer, and committee member went to his eternal reward on Friday evening but not without leaving a legacy of toil and endeavours on which our Club stands today. Being in business himself, he was well aware of the value of hard work and patience in nursing a vision to its full potential. Gerry, along with a number of revolutionary individuals, believed in the Clubs future and dedicated themselves to developing and improving the facilities to become the envy of many others around our County and beyond. His generation devoted themselves to the cause, and no doubt, during the journey they came across dark days but Gerry and his cohort never fell short in passion and pride and this drove them to succeed. In 1994, the committee decided to expand their fundraising sources and our Bingo was born. It would take coaxing and persistence for the venture to take off but Gerry was the driving force behind its inception, its weekly running and its ultimate success. Some twenty five years later, his involvement was no less than on the day it started. He was still on board and helping each night, religiously, and surely a true reflection and testimony to someone’s dedication and convictions in what they believe. Our Club has had, and still has, many steadfast individuals who have made and continue to make our Club great, but Gerry Lynch set the standard and created the template required for these people. His contribution to the Club has been immeasurable, his loss is unquestionable, but he leaves behind the fruits of honest hard work and passion for his community. For this, our Club will be forever in his debt. To Eileen, Ronan, Derrick, Nigel, Tiarnach, and the extended family, we offer our sincere sympathy from the Club Executive and all the Membership. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam naofa.
