Ulster Junior Club Championship

Our great Ulster adventure took us to Crossmaglen on Sunday afternoon last. The Armagh Champions, Belleek stood between us and a semi final place on the 12th Dec. With much of the same starting team, from our victory over Cookstown, we began well and recorded a couple of early scores which should’ve settled us into our rhythm but instead it gave the opposition the urge to become more dogged and drive with their attacks. They capitalised on our lethargic opening spell and pushed on with a couple of points. A late point, for us, left them only one point to the good as the referee called half time. A revitalised Seans team stormed out in the second half and stamped their authority on the game. While we never went more than four points in front, there was much more urgency about our play and this was reflected in some excellent point scoring. A pleather of injuries and stoppages had extended the stopwatch and we were now heading into a nervous period of ariel bombarding of high balls into our goal area. As fate would have it , we fell foul to the route one approach, and a dribbly ball into the goalmouth had found its way over the line and registered a three pointer. It was now a one point game with, what felt like, forty five minutes played in the second half. Possession was now king and we managed to cuddle the ball back over into the Belleeks half and cross bar in a daring raid in the fifty seventh minute of added time for a two point lead. The sound of the final whistle was greeted with a rousing cheer from the travelling devotees, as we had carved out another little bit of history by heading for a semi final in Ulster. Downings from Donegal will be the next hurdle and this comes with a well deserved break of two weeks. With some injuries and some very tired legs a little recuperation and TLC may be just what the physio ordered. Great to see so many travelling fans of both home support and neutral followers on the day. We await a venue for the quarter final, and we look forward to another day on the road, may sure you’re part of it.

Get Well Soon

We would like to wish Conor McElvaney a speedy recovery to full fitness from his recent setback. Conor is a major cog in the wheel of our senior management set up and no doubt he’s plotting and planning, with the feet up, for our next Ulster assignment.

AGM

Our AGM will take place at 2pm on the 5th of Dec. The meeting will be conducted under current social gathering guide lines. This will make the event safe for all members to attend. We are proposing to make the hall available for those wishing to be inside but socially distancing themselves apart. Anyone wishing to remain in their cars will also be facilitated and will be able to fully participate in the meeting. Looking forward to seeing everybody there.
