Junior Championship
The final game of the junior championship group stages was a home tie with Drumhowan on Sunday. It was a tough score for score first half with no side giving much away and possession being stifled by both teams. Nothing attractive or eye catching in either performance with it all square at the interval. As we resumed the second period the Seans were slower off the mark and started to play catch up. This was the theme of a sluggish second half and a couple of goals from the visitors sealed our fate. We now need to refocus as the quarter final draw has thrown Killeevan into the mix. We will play them in Scotstown on Saturday afternoon. Its win or bust so all support will be welcome on the day.
Juveniles
The last two juvenile teams, left in competitions, concluded their season on Saturday last. Our U13’s had an early start to take on Eire Og in Smithboro for their championship match. It was evident from the start that the home team were will up for the game and punished early on with well taken scores. Coming from behind we struggled and the game eventually fizzled out and our season with it was finished. However, having won the shield in Div 4 the team had their silverware and congratulations to them and their coaches. They are great bunch lads with plenty of talent going forward next year.
Later in the day it was back to Smithboro where Seans na Mullai took on Latton in their Championship shield semi final. Again it wasn’t to be as Latton controlled the game for long periods and we couldn’t get the scores on the board. A valiant effort from the lads but not enough to reach the final. The Seans club would like to thank Na Mullai for amalgamating this year for the competitions. There was a great togetherness with the set up as both coaches and players gelled well and settled into a good team set up during the season. Well done to all and their efforts in search of the silverware.
