Club Development

The big yokes have arrived. It’s great to see Prunty Pitches now on site with their machinery as the get stuck into the redevelopment of our training pitch. This development will take twelve months or so but it will greatly enhance the Clubs facilities.

Junior Championship

Our seniors played hosts to Rockcorry on Saturday evening last in the next round of the Junior Championship. Having won the corresponding fixture in the league, the visitors had the bragging rights going into the fixture but this is where their complacency was to end. From the start, the Seans , had a pep in their step that had been lacking in their previous contests. They were confident in defence and built on it to attack and create scores. With a few players returning from injury and others stepping up their game they were well worth their lead at half time. The second period would continue as we left off and after a couple of goals rattled the Rock net it was game over. A great improvement all round and plenty of room to enrich all areas with a two week break until our next encounter with Clones.

Juveniles

It was championship time for our U15’s, who ironically, enough went to Rockcorry for the fixture on Saturday afternoon. Rock had been crowned the Division 4 league winners during the week with a marathon game against Ballybay and their tails were rightly up. Our lads started brightly and kicked some nice points in the opening half. There was nothing easy from the opposition and every score was well earned. At the break we had a five point lead but the game was still finely balanced as both teams were edgy about conceding any advantage to the other. However as the second half emerged, the Seans, closed out the attacking forwards and tackled like their lives depended on it. This intense pressure kept the home team to one score in this period. Our forwards kicked on and continued to take their scores when the opportunities arose. As the game drew to close and players got tired, the game became scrappy and untidy which left a player from each side receiving straight red cards. An unfortunate end to what was a tough encounter with the division four champions. We now progress to the semi-finals and await our opposition with trepidation.

The U17’s Seans na Mullai make the long trip to Corduff this Friday night as they take on Oglaigh Naomh Buach in the first round of the Division 2 Championship. A tough ask having just been beaten by them in the Shield final two weeks ago by this opposition. Well as they say, “what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger”, and no doubt this group of players will have regrouped and be ready for the challenge.
