Junior Football League
Oram was our first opponents in the league, at home, last Saturday evening. The team showed some new and some not so new faces in the line up which was good. Things went reasonably according to plan for the first half and a four point advantage was the difference at the break. However the visitors chipped away at the scoreboard with limited response from the Seans and eventually drew level. This period of play was, at times, messy and ill disciplined and it gave Oram the advantage to run out winners by two points. Not a game for the purest, but no doubt we can regroup and look ahead to our next encounter against Toome.
Juveniles
With the U13’s having a bye this week, it was the U15’s who were first up with a home tie with Aghabog. Local rivalries are always close and this would not disappoint. The Seans struggled to settle and went to the first water break a goal and eight points to no score down. However they steadied the ship from here on and the game became contest. A gutsy performance all round , and even in the closing stages they came from behind to snatch a draw. A very entertaining display with both sides deserving a share of the points.
The U17’s had a home game on Sunday morning against Oglaigh Naomh Buach. This seemed, on paper, to be a very good opportunity to secure two more league points. However the visitors didn’t agree. They proved to be more clinical with scores and although Seans na Mullai scored 4-9 the visitors hit 3-18 and took victory. The disappointment was very evident with players and management , however they have another break from games which will allow time to reflect and iron out the crinkles in the armour.
