Junior League
To say the heavens opened on Friday night last in Blackhill, would have been an understatement. Throw in a howling gale and a few flashes of lightning, and we had a typical Irish summer evening. But, both teams had no option but to make the best of it. Blackhill were first off the mark and pushed into the lead, ably assisted by the strong breeze. Our lads struggled to get to grips with the conditions, and the home side had a four point lead at the break. On the restart, the sunshine broke through, and the winds disappeared. With the change in the weather came an improved performance from the Seans and some well earned scores. Nothing in it, despite our work rate and effort improving as we tied the score on fifteen minutes. The lads soon edged in front with another couple of scores and suddenly we were two points to the good. But alas, we conceded two soft points in injury time to give the home team a reprieve from defeat. Given the conditions, a draw was probably acceptable but not palatable. To date, this has been an incredibly positive start to the league for us and we should not lose sight of that. Fellow table toppers, Emyvale, are our guests on Friday night at 8pm and this will be a test of our metal.

U14 Boys
Our boys headed to Killanny on Saturday for the Division Three League Shield semi final. This has been a challenging competition for this young team and their management. Despite their best efforts, they have struggled against the more physical teams in the group, however their visit to Killanny did show that their hard work will get its reward. A difficult first half left a mountain to climb in the second but that did not deter their ambitions. The second period gave them huge confidence as they began to eat away at their opponent's lead. A newfound urgency converted loads of scores throughout the half and brought them within touching distance of their hosts. However, time was their enemy, and in spite of the massive fight back, they fell short of a victory. Good luck to Killanny in the final, but this will surely have encouraged the boys as they head to the championship. Well done to the team and management.

U14 Girls
Well done to our U14 girls who had a great home victory over O’Neill Shamrocks on Monday night in very difficult weather conditions. This is their first win in Division One, in what is, a very strong competition. No doubt this will inspire them to continue with winning ways.
