Intermediate Championship

A rain soaked Blackhill was the venue for our final game in the championship series on Saturday afternoon. Securing intermediate status for next season was the priority and anything more would be a bonus. From the throw in, both sides took the defensive stance to nullify each other’s attack. This was certainly effective as we only managed two points in the first half. Blackhill remained scoreless until the twenty seventh minute and then managed to tie proceedings on the stroke of half time. The monsoon like downpours continued as we resumed for the second period. However, the home team pushed in front with a couple of points and left us chasing the lead. As usual, scores became more difficult in the slippery conditions, but the clock kept ticking away. That said, our never give up attitude, pushed us to scrapping for every ball and eventually being rewarded with a score. Our levelling point took us to the thirty first minute and the sigh of relief as fulltime was called. Seven points each and not the prettiest of performances but a job done in woeful conditions. We now sit tight until the final round of fixtures are played this weekend and see how the results and the mathematic permutations take shape for quarter final places. Well done to all in our expedition to intermediate football in 2022.

U13’s

The 13’s felt the sting of a highly skilled Clones team on Saturday last. Once again this was played in the torrents of rain of the weekend. Although they tried their best they couldn’t get to grips with the step up in divisional status. Definitely nothing to be down about was we played some serious games all season. Well done lads and coaches, ye have given it your all.

U15’s

Emyvale were are visiting opponents on Thursday last for the final game in the championship series. The winner would have a home advantage semi final as the reward. From the off the lads laid down their maker and kicked points and scored goals with style. Emyvale kept playing their hard and fast style of ball which did cause problems for the Seans. Our lead at half time was a good enough cushion to see out the victory despite a very spirited second half by the visitors. The victory has secured a home semi final against Rockcorry on Saturday at 12.30. Please come out and show your support for the lads and the efforts and commitments of their coaches.
