Seniors
A home tie with Monaghan Harps, last Friday night, produced an absorbing game of football for sixty plus minutes. After the shock of a very early goal from the visitors, the Seans composed themselves and settled in a rhythm, albeit chasing the Harps lead. It was a tough , hard hitting encounter where there was little between the teams on the ground. However, our guests, maintained that small gap on the scoreboard. Despite a goal and three points in the last five minutes of the first half we still remained in catchup mode at the break, being behind by a point. The second period was end to end action with score for score being picked off by either side. But , once again, The Harps managed to squeeze a two point gap for most of the half and we were unable to rescue the win. On sixty minutes we were three points behind and victory was with the visitors. It was disappointing given the shift that was put in, but on the bright side we continue in introduce youth to the senior ranks and this can only be positive. Unfortunately there are no pictures or points on the league table for effort and commitment and it only shows the bare facts of winning and losing. The quest for our first victory continues.
U17’s
The U17’s suffered a heavy defeat to Inniskeen , at home, on Tuesday last. The lads just had no answer to the quick ball by the visitors and their deadly accuracy. This will go down as a lesson and the need for harder work in the games to follow.
U15’s
The 15’s made the journey to table toppers Aughnamullen on Thursday evening. Never a happy hunting ground for the Seans and this game would be no different. The home side settled quickly as they collected some good scores. However, we did respond well and create good opportunities, but we were not clinical in converting them into scores. Aughnamullen eventually pulled away and victory was secured early in the second half. That said we have secured a cup position in the league and everybody starts off from the same place once again in late June.
Feile Regional Finals
Good luck to our U15 squad and management who head to Tyrone on Saturday the 4th June where they will take part in the Regional Finals of the competition. This is a unique opportunity for the lads and we wish them every success as they represent Club and County.
