Junior League
Scotstown were our visitors on Saturday evening for the latest round of the league. A bright start gave us hope for the first half as scores were exchanged. However, approaching the interval our guests tagged on a number of scores to push into a three point advantage. On resumption of the second period we completely lost our direction and composure. Scotstown seized their opportunities well and compounded our misery with accurate scoring. We had no answer and no excuses come the final whistle as we recorded another defeat. Currin is next up , away on Saturday evening, and we will need to step up the performance considerably.
U16’s Shield Final
Hard luck to our gallant U16’s who took on Ballybay in the Division 3 League Shield final last Thursday night. In typical Irish summer weather, wind and rain, we took to the field in Aghabog with high hopes of victory having won both previous league encounters. However, things were much closer than form would have suggested as it was a tough and uncompromising battle from the start. End to end stuff, in awful conditions, kept the crowd gripped . Nothing between them at the break and the second period continued where we left off. Score for score gave the crowd plenty to shout about, however some long stoppages for injuries did break momentum somewhat in the closing stages. Ballybay broke through on two occasions, heading to the final whistle and hit the net which was enough to secure their win. The lads were out on their feet at the end and we thank them and their coaches for the entertaining evening despite the conditions. Championship now beckons and maybe a rematch somewhere along the line.
