Lighting our Future
The fundraisers are now on the road so all members can expect a friendly visit from our canvassing teams in the coming weeks. We are asking the members and friends to contribute €240 towards the future development within the club. In return for the donation , your name will be inscribed on a new granite plaque which will be located in a prominent position at the Complex building. This will be in full view for all to see on arrival to the club and for future generations. The payment can be paid upfront or split payments over 12 months. We now have a link on our Clubzap App which allows you to go online for this. However, we will have members calling and our brochure has a QR code which can be scanned for payment. We are also offering some terrific contributor prizes on the day the plague is unveiled. These will include , Two All Ireland Hurling and Football tickets with overnight stays in Dublin and an Indulgent Spa getaway among other prizes. Please take time to review the information when we call and appreciate the work that has been done and the work that is planned and support your Club.
Healthy Hearts
The Club has organised the Health Hearts Team to visit on Saturday the 18th May from 9am to 2.30pm. with appointments every 15 mins. This is open to anyone of an age of 14 and over , players and non-players. The cost is €50, and we are advising booking an appointment at 0863751459. This a massive step by the Club in the area of health and welfare of players and members in the screening for SADS.
Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS) is a condition that can occur in apparently healthy individuals, including athletes, and is often caused by an underlying heart condition. Cardiac screening for SADS in sports people can help identify any potential heart abnormalities that may increase the risk of sudden cardiac arrest during physical activity. Early detection and treatment of such conditions can reduce the risk of SADS and improve the athlete's overall health and well-being.
Senior Reserve League
The team headed for Doohamlet for round four of the league on Saturday evening. We started brightly and were well in the game for most of the first half despite being reduced to fourteen players. However, the numerical difference took its toll in the second period and Doohamlet finished the stronger on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-7.
Minors
Our minors had an away fixture, on Tuesday last, to Magheracloone in round two of the league. Despite a strong start the lads failed to capitalise on opportunities and the home team dominated most areas of the pitch. We were unable to raise the intensity of the game and as a result Magheracloone closed out a comprehensive win with eight points to spare. A home game with Tyholland is next up on Tuesday night and loads of room for improvement.
U12’s Dev. League
Another great game on Saturday as the U12’s hosted Ballybay in the Spring Development League. This week the blocking skill was the target for everyone to practice. A hugely entertaining affair and well done to the lads.
