The Late Pete Keenan
Our community and Club where shocked and stunned with the untimely and sudden passing of Pete Keenan, Coretard, Threeemilehouse on Tuesday last. The Keenan family had only learned of the passing of John Bloor, when this terrible news emerged that Pete had also passed within hours of his father in law. The outpouring of support for the family and was very evident as the endless stream of people attended the wake on Thursday and Friday evening. A veteran player of the successful Seans Teams of 60’s and early and early 70’s, Pete, was a popular figure in the Club and wider community. He and his late brother John, soldiered together on many of the senior teams and brought success to the Club in the era when competition was tight in the junior ranks. Pete was still a regular to games to watch his grandson, Jamie, and the current senior team. On Saturday morning, Pete’s funeral passed through the village with a guard on honour to chapel gates by the Seans Club members and supporters, standing in solidarity with the Keenan family. To Maire his wife, and his children Christian, Siobhan, Caroline, Aisling, Emily, and Gemma and the wider family circle the Club wishes to express their sincere condolences to them on Pete’s death. Seniors Ladies Reserve League
The second game in the reserve league was a home tie with Bridgid O’Neills on Sunday last. This was a very tight and canny affair with both sides gaining territory but not converting many scores. This added to the very exciting contest and it was all square at the break. The second period seen Bridgids edge in front and pressurise the home sides defence at every opportunity. However, a new invigorated determination with the Seans, drove them on to not give in. Their hard work paid off and they tied game at almost the final whistle with scores of 3-04 each. The blend of experience and youth is working well and hopefully we can continue in this vein. Well done ladies.
