Bingo at the Seans

We drew the curtain down on Bingo 2023 on Monday night, with huge prizes totalling nearly €7000. Three lucky players bagged a Christmas treat of €1000 each.

Can we sincerely thank all our loyal followers for making this the best bingo in the country. Your weekly support makes this possible. Along with our dedicated team of presenters and backroom people we would like to wish everybody a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

We return with a special New Years Day Bingo on the 1st January. All our jackpots will be intact with at least €1000 guaranteed to be given away and our main jackpot will be a massive €13100.

Volunteer Of The Year

The Séan MacDiarmada Club is proud to announce Francie Murphy as our Volunteer of the Year for 2023. Francie will be presented with his award on Thursday night in the Four Seasons Hotel.

Francie’s association with this Club stretches far beyond 2023. As the Club was founded in 1961, he was a member of the early teams which were successful and became a key player in the golden era of the Seans during 1967, ’68, and ’69. Francies involvement did not stop with being a player and he became a member of the Club’s Executive Committee for many years holding a variety of positions. However, his organising qualities were quickly recognised as he took control of the Ciste Gael at the AGM of 1975.

Ciste Gael was a simple fundraising vehicle for Clubs with a weekly draw. The Seans Club weren’t just good at it, but they were the best at it and topped the pole on a nationwide basis for membership to their draw.

Francie’s interest in GAA extended to becoming a Referee within the County for many years. He has now passed the baton to his son, Colin, but still manages umpiring duties when needed. His commitment to the Club has never waned in his sixty plus years of being involved and he still makes himself available for duties at games when called upon.

A lifelong Gael and admired and appreciated by his club.

Lighting the Future Fundraiser

The fundraiser is now taking to the road so all members can expect a friendly visit from our canvassing teams in the coming weeks.

We are currently collating pictures and memorabilia of ladies and mens teams, and general events in the club of yesteryear. If anyone has photos, programmes or anything which you feel maybe of interest please contact our PRO, Adrian Forde on 0862760848. All items will be copied and returned. This work has started with new photos etc on display in the Plex Bar.
