Juveniles

The U17’s took on Rock Sarsfields in Killeevan on Sunday morning in the semi final of the Division 3 shield. This was the meeting of two well matched teams, although, Rock headed away into an early lead from the start. Once our lads found their feet and they got stuck into the task at hand and picked off scores at will. Some excellent movement gave them confidence to run at the defense and enjoy some well taken points. However the lead was never surrendered by the opposition and in the end the clock beat us from drawing level. This team was brought together by The Seans and Eire Og na Mullai. The lads and management alike , have gelled so well together over the short period of the competition. It represented a great level of cooperation between both clubs and their young players who represented them admirably. They were unlucky on the day and the season may be over but hopefully all the players will have gained a good experience with their involvement. As for the Management , our Club would sincerely like to thank all those who helped from Eire Og during the competition in making the whole thing possible.

For the U13’s it was to be a battle royale with Drumhowan in Threemilehouse on Saturday morning. The winner would go forth to the final of the Division 3 Cup and boy did they not serve up a mornings entertainment. In a game where every ball was fought for as if it was the last, both teams emptied the tank in a pulsating end to end encounter. In a whirl wind start the Seans had taken a commanding lead in the first half but they were slowly pegged back by the visitors. This would be the story of the hour as one scored borrowed another until the clock almost struck full time. The home team were behind by a single point and a last gasp free took us into the unknown territory of extra time. Once again the Seans dropped their guard and were chasing the game in the added period. Drumhowan were a point to the good with seconds ticking away but today was the day when the boys stood firm and worked the magic of goal in the dying seconds. There was hardly time for another play when the ref called time on this epic dual and there wasnt a dry eye in the house. The Seans were victorious and had orchestrated the great escape. Well done to both teams for this memorable match. Good luck to the lads as they face Innsikeen on Saturday with time and venue to be confirmed.

Senior Ladies.

What can we say, what a game, what win, what a team … The new Junior Champions of Monaghan won it in style. With a great mix of new and seasoned players they came together like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers and gilded through the game with ease. Of course Danny and Nigel were choregraphing the whole show from the wings . They played with great confidence through out the game and although the fans were behind closed doors and peeping through hedges they closed out a memorable victory against a young upcoming team in Killeevan. Well done to all and hopefully this is not the only silverware bound for the Sean Mac Diarmada Club in the coming weeks.
