Junior Championship Rd.2

Round 2 of the new look championship took us to Oram on Sunday evening. With both teams starting with a win it was always going to be a tight affair. The Seans started well and went four points to no score ahead , however they failed to push on after going down to fourteen men. Oram came back into the game with two points to bring the encounter to half time. In a very stop start affair there was little to ignite the voices of the social distancing crowd, however the home side did tag on a couple of points to take them to within a score of the Seans earlier in the second period. Only for some excellent shot stopping by Orams goalkeeper , kept the home team in touch as the Seans slowly to a grip on things. As the game drew to its conclusion the Seans controlled the pace and course of the game and closed out the victory by three points. Not a game for traditionalist spectator with the card count off the scale and the ebb and flow of the game stymied by a myriad of stoppages. That asides the workman like performance of the lads was sufficient to secure the win and the points. A big thank you to our match day sponsors who were James McMahon at Lakeview Financial and Damian Larkin and the staff at Comline. The support of these local business is vital to the club and it is much appreciated. Next up is Killeevan at home on Saturday evening.

Juveniles

The U17’s hosted Patrick Emmetts on Tuesday night last. This was another tough encounter with a very strong team. While we were chasing the game from early on the lads did not drop the heads and kept plugging away to keep their score up. As the rain closed in and the light was fading, the visitors held firm and closed out their victory with a substantial scoring tally. While no victories yet, the boys are working hard and hopefully this pull things together soon.

Our U15’s traveled to Aughnamullen in their second game of the competition. Once again they ran up against big powerful opposition. The goal scoring by Aughnamullen took its toll on the result but did not really reflect the possession which the Seans had and had not converted to scores. It was a much improved performance by the lads , however there is plenty room for score getting.

The U13 lads took on Killanny at home on Saturday morning last. Having won their last two fixtures , confidence was high as were expectations. They took control of the game from early on and never relinquished their scoring advantage for the whole duration. It was a very accomplished display the whole way from goalkeeper straight through to the forwards. All of the bench came on to make their impact and a home win was secured.
